<p>Autumn is coming up and one of the most important things you need to know is how to make your house smell like fall.</p>

<p>Why?</p>

<p>Because smells affect our mood, according to <strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/do-scents-affect-peoples/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Scientific American</a></span></strong>:“Odors do affect people&#8217;s mood [&#8230;] it isn&#8217;t because odors work on us like a drug, instead we work on them through our experiences with them. That is, in order for an odor to elicit any sort of response in you, you have to first learn to associate it with some event.”</p>

<p>That’s why, for example, some people love the smell of apples. They do because their mother used to make apple pies every weekend when they were little. So naturally, they now associate apples with a warm, loving feeling.&nbsp;</p>

<p>So if you want to have a cozy home in which you feel safe and at peace, it’s time to figure out how to make your house smell like fall.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It could be as simple as lighting a <strong><a href="https://www.bathandbodyworks.com/c/home-fragrance/all-candles" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bath &amp; Body Works candle</a></strong>. Or using fall scented cleaning products. Or, if you have time, and want to go the homemade route, try making a simmer pot (more details on how to make one below).</p>

<p>Either way, a nice smelling house will improve your and your family’s mood, so definitely check out the options below and choose at least one for your home.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Here are my top 6 ways to make your house smell like fall:</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Option 1: Candles</strong></h2>

<p>The first and obvious choice: candles.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Bath &amp; Body Works candles are usually the top brand most people go for, and I get why.</p>

<ul><li>They’re available nationwide, in stores and online.&nbsp;</li><li>A wide variety of scents.</li><li>Cool naming and packaging (hello “Sweater Weather”)</li></ul>

<p>My favorite fall candles from Bath &amp; Body Works are <strong><a href="https://www.bathandbodyworks.com/p/leaves-3-wick-candle-026309146.html?cgid=all-candles" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Leaves</a></strong> and <strong><a href="https://www.bathandbodyworks.com/p/pumpkin-apple-3-wick-candle-026299254.html?cgid=all-candles" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pumpkin Apple</a></strong>.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter"><img decoding="async" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/R8AZYO7t3-G1snGRpZcJ9nMjqsFYURTktjSBRyktMy7lC0jYtS5RjrLyoEDrog7V-jYAinFeEPPUB8MDlK0cnIyKykJYNmMQiOUrngTWg1zLb7gk21S7W5lwrKDno2zINssxixB1" alt="bath &amp; body works candle leaves fall"/></figure></div>

<p>Now, you don’t have to go to this particular store. You can choose Yankee, or handmade candles from a local store.</p>

<p>You can even get a candle subscription, like Wickbox, go <a href="https://shrsl.com/3130i" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow"><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">check it out here</span></strong></a>.</p>

<p>But make sure you have at least one fall candle in your collection, it also doubles as a home decor object.</p>

<p></p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Option 2: Oil diffusers</strong></h2>

<p>Ever since Young Living and DoTerra came into the picture, the oil diffuser industry has grown exponentially.&nbsp;</p>

<p>I’m not a fan of MLM’s, but oil diffusing can be a good thing. I use one to refresh a room’s scent and also, to help humidify, especially during colder months.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Aromatherapy is another topic in itself, but I’m not going there at the moment.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Either way, I believe an oil diffuser can also make your house smell like fall, if you use oil combinations like the following:</p>

<ul><li>Cinnamon + clove + nutmeg</li><li>Wild orange + cinnamon&nbsp;</li></ul>

<p>If you don’t want to support the big MLM companies, you can go for cheaper Amazon oil diffusers options, like these one:</p>

<p><strong><a href="https://amzn.to/3sfFHl6" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Essential Oil Diffuser Aromacare</a></strong> 600ml Cool Mist Humidifier- link <strong><a href="https://amzn.to/3sfFHl6" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">here</a></strong></p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter"><a href="https://amzn.to/3sfFHl6" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img decoding="async" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/XT1ClaahP0yf2CSfvNHTwUCHU_cEYXvVmNMyqJc4CHVVlv40MGOfuUCMfnDwEnJFWKiiC12pL2Qyd6kX6axFm7b4hDAFjMiwVogfjBnmWchlhaCI2SSMUFB600Icd8QBepBDgWKm" alt="how to make your house smell like fall with oil diffusers"/></a></figure></div>

<p>Or this set of oil diffuser and oils to start with</p>

<p><strong><a href="https://amzn.to/3CMiv2H" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Ultimate Aromatherapy Diffuser &amp; Essential Oil Set</a></strong> &#8211; link <strong><a href="https://amzn.to/3CMiv2H" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">here</a></strong></p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter"><a href="https://amzn.to/3CMiv2H" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img decoding="async" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/VrmgQaraGBOszmo4anE9kSo2Fd60JKDcF0hffNHIDLLI60cu2lD1HuFRKjaFE-bQxlcMJuv_0D1KDfhJskjJ6vmhjcRcGVzqsoHhlRb0deE86i6kZjFSOCnrDCrdybCscVVIUkJM" alt="oils and diffuser amazon set"/></a></figure></div>

<p>If you want a fancier looking oil diffuser, this <a href="https://aromatechscent.com/products/aromini" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>Aroma Tech Aromini</strong></a> machine looks amazing, but it’s on the pricier side.&nbsp;</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter"><img decoding="async" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_XSu6MAk9pBZVl4g3bQoEOXUCkmarnj5ZIgdYdtSbs_IZBgvc51gB1wUKBeIv93nZy8Z2g_MgjAd1LvFg1F_s4YS7EsGrXYrKttOXVxysYLlVhfI8Azh_f8L468E6TkWFXQ8I0hs" alt="aroma tech aromini oil diffuser"/></figure></div>

<p></p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Option 3: Room sprays / Wall Plugin</strong></h2>

<p>Another great way to make your home smell like fall is to use room sprays or wall plugins.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Room Sprays, like this <strong><a href="https://amzn.to/2Xp5wDP" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Febreze</a> </strong>one, requires daily effort from your part. But if you sprayed it all over, it would leave a lingering, powerful scent.</p>

<p>Wall Plug-ins, on the other hand, require just a plug-in and a weekly or monthly change.&nbsp;</p>

<p>You can find cheaper options on Amazon, or you can go the Bath &amp; Body Works route, it doesn’t really matter.&nbsp;</p>

<p>For example, you can get 10 refills of the <strong><a href="https://amzn.to/37EkZ4L" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Air Wick Apple Cinnamon Plug In</a></strong> for $18.99 right now from Amazon (at the time of the posting this).&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter"><a href="https://amzn.to/37EkZ4L" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img decoding="async" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/IT9uLPWSuzv6Hv5JE8CBh0yYjH-Kj9AJWCubuAGphpHmt64I5m3WTEI16L6AmOxUogs7WriAth_2iMI8ZMoWywi8xWPP1adhaHnLGaMssBOI9-F60NaHlCUQjsqZlfXsUR6obJK6" alt="air wick apple cinnamon plug in"/></a></figure></div>

<p></p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Option 4: Homemade simmer pot</strong></h2>

<p>If you want to know how to make your house smell like fall in a natural and cheap way, the simmer pot is the way to go, in my opinion.&nbsp;</p>

<p>You just need a couple of simple ingredients and a pot of water.&nbsp;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img decoding="async" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/33wcSeyGipinqaPuz4d-x9aCjF8L_fKw4ZjRyCdV9JiOLmJup_oVNRfCNDAXQpJalfqPodvCNbknKp3LbilwSeE9n0pfLYDhcd8nkLqilnsQd1Fhw3D0K9Poz0Q9YVFv722CVZCH" alt="simmer pot to make your house smell like fall"/></figure>

<p>Here’s how to make a fall simmer pot:</p>

<ul><li>Fill a large pot ¾ full of water</li><li>Add cinnamon sticks, apple slices, orange slices (or peels), vanilla, nutmeg, cranberries, etc.</li><li>Optional, you can also add a few drops of essential oils</li><li>Boil the water on a slow heat setting, but make sure the concoction doesn’t burn.</li></ul>

<p>And that’s how you make a homemade fall simmer pot. Feel free to add whatever ingredient you think might smell good during the colder months. </p>

<p>Now you&#8217;re all ready for fall! Prepare this, put on your <strong><a href="https://cozyhomehacks.com/amazon-cozy-slippers/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">cozy slippers</a></strong> and <strong><a href="https://cozyhomehacks.com/best-amazon-loungewear-sets/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">loungewear set</a></strong>, and just relax!</p>

<p></p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Option 5: Cinnamon scented pinecones</strong></h2>

<p>This option would be great for people who like to do fall-inspired table centerpieces.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Adding cinnamon scented pinecones to it will not only make the table piece better, but also make the room smell like fall.&nbsp;</p>

<p>You can get them on Amazon <strong><a href="https://amzn.to/3Az23Rr" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">h</a><a href="https://amzn.to/3Az23Rr" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">ere:</a></strong> <strong><a href="https://amzn.to/3Az23Rr" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Redolent Cinnamon Scented Pine Cones</a>&nbsp;</strong></p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter"><a href="https://amzn.to/3Az23Rr" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img decoding="async" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/O0cEO-Ki9jwYN4WsS1S0ST2shvPEKYhOLySkQe_ZrmoyvT5PkK2uGV95DPFfZzqgQ83rTbSirLsT75NrHWE3Xx-akZFUxSffNnAFFiGmzhV0SrrDWc-KRCB3BY0owdcS5kY7UM8a" alt="cinnamon scented pinecones how to make your house smell like fall"/></a></figure></div>

<p></p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Option 6:&nbsp; Fall-scented cleaning products</strong></h2>

<p>The last way to make your house smell like fall is to use fall-scented cleaning products.</p>

<p>Mrs Meyers products are the best example for that, but you can use other brands, as well, of course.</p>

<p>The cool thing about these fall-scented products is that they are multi-purpose. You can use them for cleaning, but they also smell nice, so they can be a good way to make your home smell like fall. Two birds with one stone, am I right?</p>

<p>For example, you can try the <strong><a href="https://amzn.to/3s5F1OR" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Mrs. Meyers Apple Cider Set</a></strong> that has a hand soap, a dish soap, and a multi-surface cleaner. Similarly, you can get it in the <strong><a href="https://amzn.to/3yBz5jl" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Acorn &amp; Spices</a></strong> scent.&nbsp;</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter"><a href="https://amzn.to/3s5F1OR" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img decoding="async" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/7sE3rhLfCFPS0J_cLuzbSOkNgfHckeelOh8b2hW2tDrhH4lnkr7QVb82bHH8FoeyRGTrGzzU3G-AwSL3LF3w36TfHC99_OGBryQ7lIgOK7zMyikaVPz8q5DI2Li7TlpeVjIindrQ" alt="mrs meyers fall scented apple cider set"/></a></figure></div>

<p><strong>Conclusion</strong></p>

<p>In short, the answer to the question “how to make your house smell like fall” has 6 possible outcomes: candles, oil diffusers, room sprays / wall plug-ins, fall simmer pot, cinnamon scented pinecones and fall-scented cleaning products!&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
